Divisional appointment
Invensys plc, the technology company, announces the appointment of Sudipta Bhattacharya as CEO and Business President of our newly formed Invensys Operations Management division (IOM). IOM was created by the integration of our three industrial automation businesses (Invensys Process Systems, Wonderware and Eurotherm) into a single division.
Sudipta, who has been the interim Chief Operating Officer for Wonderware, Eurotherm and IPS, joined Wonderware in August 2007, and became Business President of Wonderware in November 2007.
Sudipta is a chemical engineer by profession and he spent the first eight years of his career working with the various chemical businesses of the Tata Group in India as a process engineer. While with the Tata Group, he also led the international business operations for crop chemicals at Rallis (Tata) India Limited. Prior to joining Invensys, Sudipta was with SAP AG where he had global responsibility for product management for three of SAP's major solutions that included Supply Chain, Manufacturing, and Product Lifecycle Management. He was responsible for creating and driving the success around SAP's Adaptive Supply Chain strategy, Adaptive Manufacturing strategy, and Manufacturing Partner Ecosystem that SAP executed on. Before joining SAP, Sudipta was with i2 technologies where, as a part of the Strategic Services group, he led several global assignments working with senior company executives at Fortune 1000 companies and helping them adopt lean supply chain best practices. Sudipta has led several acquisitions within and outside manufacturing, has worked in different parts of the world and in many different industries and types of businesses.
In addition to his undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering, Sudipta holds two top ranked master degrees in Chemical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur and the University of Cincinnati's Center of Excellence for Membrane Sciences. He also holds a MBA with specialisations in Marketing, Operations Management and Finance. In addition, he holds two patents in the fields of supply chain risk management and manufacturing, has been a guest writer for the Economic Times and the Asian Age, has been a past Board Member of MESA, and an invited speaker at several conferences.
