Invensys’ Wonderware Business Unit Achieves “Powered by SAP NetWeaver®” Certification Status
Posted 22 February 2006
Wonderware, a business unit of Invensys Systems Inc., today announced at the ARC
“Next Generation Manufacturing Forum” that it has achieved “Powered by SAP
NetWeaver®” certification status.
The status was attained through successful certification of two new
plant-to-business integration solutions. The first is Wonderware’s Business
Package for Process Performance Analysis 60.1 integrated with the SAP NetWeaver
Portal. The second is the combination of the SAP NetWeaver Exchange
Infrastructure (SAP NetWeaver XI)-based Content Package for Order Processing
30.1 integrated with SAP® ECC 5.0 and Wonderware Enterprise Integrator 2.0. This
certification also is part of the SAP certification program for ISA-95-based
manufacturing interoperability.
The new Invensys integration solution for process performance analysis links
plant-floor information with the SAP manufacturing intelligence dashboards of
the mySAP™ ERP solution, delivering critical intelligence via alerts, reports
and key performance indicators for real-time decision-making. The integration
solution works with customers’ existing plant automation and system investments
by leveraging Invensys’ open integration software architecture, ArchestrA, along
with Wonderware’s powerful plant historian, analysis client tools and Microsoft
SQL Server.
“Personnel at customer sites can now quickly identify manufacturing production
deviations in real time and can be provided detailed information related to the
business and financial impact,” said Mark Davidson, Invensys-Wonderware’s vice
president of global marketing. “These integration solutions are already enabling
customers to manage and display workflows to resolve issues rapidly and
cost-effectively, resulting in improved productivity.”
Customers will benefit from Powered by SAP NetWeaver certification through the
assurance it offers that their existing plant applications can easily integrate
using Invensys-Wonderware’s open software with the SAP NetWeaver platform. The
Wonderware business unit is currently involved in multi-plant rollout projects
of these new integration solutions at major food and beverage, steel,
pharmaceutical, aerospace and defense customers.
Greg Gorbach, ARC’s vice president of collaborative manufacturing, said, “Among
the automation suppliers, Invensys-Wonderware has emerged as one of the leaders
in the production and performance management software space. The strong product
functionality and architecture, interoperability focus, growing installed base
and backlog all point to continued success.”
Achieving Powered by SAP NetWeaver certification status is a further step for
Invensys in aligning with SAP’s vision for adaptive manufacturing. Invensys is
committed to evolve its offering for manufacturing production and performance
management to leverage the SAP xApp™ Manufacturing Integration and Intelligence
(SAP xMII) packaged composite application. Invensys is implementing these new
software and integration solutions on its ArchestrA technology and underlying
Microsoft technologies. This continuing evolution will further increase the
business value that Invensys can bring to its manufacturing customers who are
looking for increased agility and performance.
“Solutions certified for integration with SAP NetWeaver enable tighter alignment
of business processes defined in SAP solutions, operational execution and
performance analysis of plant-floor activities managed by Wonderware software,”
Davidson said. “This integration can empower customers to quickly and easily
migrate to more efficient manufacturing operations processes.”
