Invensys to upgrade controls and implement advanced operator training simulators at Public Service of New Mexico San Juan Generating Station

Foxboro automation system will help improve Unit 4 performance and reliability; SimSci-Esscor simulators will address plantwide operator training requirements

Public Service of New Mexico (PNM) has selected Invensys Process Systems to implement a state-of-the-art, Foxboro-brand I/A Series automation system for Unit 4 plus advanced SimSci-Esscor operator training simulators in multiple units throughout the publicly owned utility’s large San Juan Generating Station.

San Juan Generating Station (SJGS) is a 1,798-megawatt coal-fired power plant located 15 miles northwest of Farmington, N.M. The plant is PNM's primary generation source, providing 60 percent of the power needed by PNM customers. PNM operates the plant on behalf of the company and eight other owners.
