Foxboro and Triconex systems will help Jiangsu Zhenjiang Power Generation Company meet eastern China’s rapidly growing electric power requirements in a safe, reliable, and environmentally responsible manner
FOXBORO, MASSACHUSETTS – April 29, 2004– Shanghai
Foxboro Company Limited (SFCL), an Invensys joint venture, has been awarded
a US $3 million dollar automation contract for a 1200 MW capacity expansion
project at the Jiangsu Zhenjiang Power Generation Co., Ltd. in China’s
Jiangsu Province. Under this contract, Invensys will implement Foxboro I/A Series
control and data acquisition systems and Triconex TS-3000 turbo-machinery control
systems in two new 600 MW supercritical gas turbine units currently under construction.
All four of the existing 135 MW coal-fired units at the power generation station are already monitored and controlled by Foxboro automation systems provided by SFCL. "Invensys considers it a privilege to be able to include the Jiangsu Zhenjiang Power Generation Company as one of our long-standing customers in China," said Mike Caliel, president of Invensys Process Systems. "As automation vendor for this major expansion project, we’re committed to helping the company meet the rapidly growing power requirements of the province in a safe, reliable, efficient, and environmentally responsible manner."
"Jiangsu Zhenjiang Power Generation Company is a highly valued customer. We’ve worked long and hard to earn their trust and look forward to continuing this mutually beneficial relationship into the future as the company continues to expand its generating capacity," added John Sun, general manager of Shanghai-Foxboro Company Limited.
Under this significant automation contract, Invensys will supply fully applied
Foxboro I/A Series automation systems in advanced fault-tolerant configurations
to deliver the following functionality:
- Modulating Control System for regulatory control
- Furnace Safetyguard Supervisory System
- Sequence Control System
- Data Acquisition System
- Digital Electro-Hydraulic Control System
- Micro-Electro-Hydraulic Control System
- Invensys will also implement Triconex TMR (Triple Modular Redundant) TS-3000 turbomachinery control systems. These are designed to help ensure safe operation while minimizing unnecessary "nuisance" trips.
Additionally, Invensys – through SFCL -- will implement a variety of advanced power industry applications designed to ensure maximum utilization of the customers’ generating assets. SFCL will also provide ongoing technical support for the entire Invensys automation solution.
The two new units, #5 and #6, are scheduled to start up in 2005 and 2006, respectively.
