Two-unit 600-megawatt plant with I/A Series DCS is largest coal-fired generating project exported to Indonesia from China
Invensys Process Systems China has implemented an I/A Series distributed control
system (DCS) project for the recently constructed Cilacap Power Plant, a two-unit,
600-megawatt coal-fired generating plant located at Cilacap, on the south coast
of central Java in Indonesia. The new plant is to date the largest coal-fired
generating project imported to Indonesia from China.
The Foxboro automation implementation for the new generation plant comprises
I/A Series DCS systems that run a variety of critical applications, including
the following
1. Management command system (MCS)
2. Data acquisition system (DAS)
3. Boiler sequence control system (SCS)
4. Furnace safety supervisory system (FSSS)
5. Turbine sequence control system (SCS)
6. Turbine digital electro-hydraulic (DEH) control system
7. Feed water pump mechanical electro-hydraulic (MEH) control system
8. Energy management and control system (EMCS)
9. Supervisory information system (SIS)
10. Remote data acquisition system (DAS)
Chinese engineers and technical staff from Invensys Process Systems China worked
closely on a fast track in Indonesia with the general contractor and commissioning
agent for plant commissioning and testing. A highly experienced power industry
automation supplier, Invensys Process Systems China also provided a range of
control system engineering, design and configuration services, along with extensive
coordination and management of other systems from third-party suppliers.
Both the Indonesian and Chinese governments consider this project an important
strategic milestone in technical cooperation and in the advancement of non-oil
energy resources. The site was visited by Indonesian government leaders, the
Chinese ambassador to Indonesia, and Indonesia’s Minister of Energy and
Mineral Resources.
