Invensys plc today announced that Sudipta Bhattacharya has been appointed as
the Invensys chief software solutions officer reporting to Mike Bradley Sr.,
president of Wonderware, a business unit of Invensys. Bhattacharya will be responsible
for driving strategy and growing the Invensys and Wonderware software solutions
business.
“I am pleased that Sudipta has chosen Invensys to realize his dream of
shaping the future for real-time applications in the manufacturing space,”
said Ulf Henriksson, chief executive of Invensys. “His expertise and energy
will be important to the pace of our developments in this strategic and growing
market.”
Previously, Bhattacharya served as senior vice president of solutions management
for supply chain, manufacturing and product lifecycle applications at SAP America,
Inc. He was responsible for driving and executing product strategy for three
of SAP’s core solutions and several strategic alliances including those
with Invensys and Wonderware, also a major SAP customer. With 17 years of experience
in managing and building global teams across the U.S., Europe and India, Bhattacharya
is currently recognized as a top industry leader in supply chain and manufacturing.
“Without any doubt, Sudipta has played a key role in defining SAP's direction
in manufacturing,” said Greg Gorbach, ARC Advisory Group vice president.
“With Sudipta's background in supply chain and product lifecycle management,
and his passion for synchronizing the plant with the rest of the world, he brings
significant value to the Invensys team at a time when manufacturers of all stripes
are investing in operations management software and technology to improve the
performance of their real-time distributed global operations.”
Before joining SAP in January 2002, Bhattacharya worked at i2 Technologies Inc.
in its strategic services group. He held a consulting role that involved advising
company executives on supply chain strategy. Prior to i2 Technologies, he worked
for 10 years at Tata Group, a business conglomerate based in India, where he
held different operational positions and built his strong functional background
in core manufacturing and supply chain operations.
“Invensys and Wonderware customers in industrial information, operations
management and manufacturing IT are increasingly seeking software solutions
that significantly improve the efficiency, performance and agility of their
operations,” Bradley said. “At SAP, Sudipta has been very successful
in building the manufacturing ecosystem and delivering high-value software solutions
at the enterprise level. I know that Sudipta is looking forward to the challenge
of leveraging the significant opportunities which have been created at Wonderware
and Invensys while continuing to help grow the global real-time manufacturing
ecosystem.”
Bhattacharya holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in chemical engineering
and in business administration with specialization in marketing, finance and
